Braid It Away

Its summer time and the beauty of summer time is the trend to spend less time on your hair. No one loves perfectly coiffed hair let it loose and try this tip for a new summer do!

I have naturally curly hair..great at times yes, but what people don't realize is that it is an everyday process to get my lushes locks to look curl ready. That is when the beach waves came into my life and became my saving grace.

First off to my perfect beach wave hair is to follow Brianna's instructions from the previous post. Healthy hair is happy hair and trust me you will love your look more. My all time favorite is Its a Ten! Love Love Love! Especially for you blonds out there with dry ends. Put that baby on there and you wont have the dry ends.

Secondly after blow drying your hair or letting it air dry whichever you prefer put your hair in a loose braid right away. I like doing my braid right before I go to bed that way the waves get set into your hair over night and my early mornings are less stressful cause my hair is a step away from being done!
Thirdly when you wake up take out your braid. Yes you will have braid hair, but that is the beauty of the beach wave. My under laying hair has a tighter curl while my top layers are loose which is perfect! Take Super Skinny-a Paul Mitchell product just a dab bout a penny size and run it through but NEVER on the scalp unless you want greasy roots. After that I take a small curling iron and on the ends-just-the ends I put a slight curl in.

These 2 above pictures are my favorite beach wave. No beach wave should ever look the same and the curls should never be symmetrical. It's fun! It's messy! Work with what you got!

But above all remember a good trim and products make a world of a difference in a good hairstyle. You don't want to look like a Raggedy Ann :)
Have fun in the sun!

Tips for your Tresses this summer!

Well we all know that summer is rapidly approaching and the temps are on the rise! Although we all enjoy our Summer lovin, it's not always easy on our lovely locks. The summer sun and hot temperatures may damage your hair's cuticle, resulting in dry, drab, brittle and even frizzy hair! Who wants that?? So I wanted to share a few of my favorite remedies to keep your hair looking fab all summer long!

First on the list, anyone who knows me knows I don't wash my hair every day. Gross you think? I think not! Even if it's just for the summer (but I recommend all year long :]) give your hair a shampoo break! Shampooing less often will allow your hair to absorb natural oils allowing your hair to moisturize all on its own!
Use protection! Leave-in protection that is :) It's a 10 plus Keratin is my ALL time favorite leave-in product and is awesome for all hair types! It does so many things for your hair is unbelievable! Spray it in your hair after it's been washed/conditioned and towel dried. Try it. You'll love it. I promise.

I am a lover of floppy hats, I think that are simply darling! And how cute is this one?! Well it's not only cute, but a great way to protect your hair against those raging summer sun rays!

Schedule deep conditioning treatments. These do wonders and are such a treat for your hair! Hair that is regularly exposed to the sun can definitely benefit from deep conditioning treatments. You can do them at home, or have your hairstylist do it! Like yours truly :) e-mail me for an appointment! briannae.harman@gmail.com
And last but certainly not least keep hydrated! Let's amp up our H2O intake this summer and keep our hair hydrated from the inside out! Although other beverages may be more fun and tempting, water is always the best choice for your tresses!
Now bring on summer!!

Look for Less-Sunday Style with a splash of vintage!
So I have been needing/wanting a new outfit for church for I don't know how long, I wear the same thing every week! I decided to finally just do it, and go look for one. My budget was $20, which for a nice Sunday outfit is a challenge but I was up for it!
I have been oogling over cream pencils skirts for the longest time, especially the one at Ann Taylor Loft for a whopping $60! Well guess what I found one for $2.50!
I am so in to belts at the moment, I love wearing them, and the fun flare they bring to an outfit! Of course Gap has this awesome grey one but it's $39, yikes!! No worries I found one for a buck :)
I was feeling pretty good about my two finds, and thought I was set and could find things to go with it at home but then it happened, out of the corner of my eye I spotted the most darling pair of shoes tucked away in a corner. My heart started racing as I sprinted (not really sprinted, okay maybe) over to the shoes,
I had hoped no one else saw these little treasures. But I was ready to stop anyone in my path :) I reached the beloved shoes and scooped them up! Lucky me they were just my size! And only $5!!! Oh happy day! They're Guess shoes, so I looked up similar ones on line, don't worry they're only $169.99, umm holy moly!! Do people really spend that much on shoes?!?!
Along the way snagged this adorable vintage red top I just had to have for $4 and I was set!
I threw in a pair of tights I got a couple years ago for $2, and $14.50 later I had my Sunday outfit!
So let's break down the savings:
Ann Taylor Loft Skirt- $60- my purchase-$2.50, savings:$57.50
Gap belt-$39-my purchase-$1, savings:$38
Guess shoes-$169.99-my purchase- $5, savings:$164.99
Red top-$4
Tights(bought two years ago on Black Friday)-$2
Total I could have spent-$268.99, Total I did spend-$14.50
Total Savings-$254.49
Would you believe me if I told you I got it all at my trusty ol' Goodwill?! Boy do I LOVE that place! To make things even better it was their 50% off day! Best shopping trip ever :) Keep an
eye out for the next Look for Less!
